• Marla Buitrago Rincon is an associate in the Litigation Department and a member of the Commercial Litigation, Construction Law, Labor and Employment Law and Insurance Defense Practice Groups.

    Marla has experience in all stages of litigation, including performing legal research and drafting memoranda; preparing and responding to discovery requests; drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, subpoenas, and certifications; and preparing deposition outlines, arbitration statements and mediation statements.  Marla is also well versed in appellate practice having worked on both interlocutory appeals and appeals from final judgments.

    During law school, Marla worked as a research assistant to David Lopez, former Dean of Rutgers Law School and General Counsel of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  She collaborated with Dean Lopez and employment law attorneys around the country to draft “Lessons from Title IX,” a guide presented at the 2019 mid-winter meeting of the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law. Additionally, Marla was a founding member and a senior articles editor of the Rutgers International Law & Human Rights Journal.

    Following law school, Marla served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jodi Lee Alper, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, General Equity Part, Essex Vicinage. She was previously a litigation associate at a Roseland law firm.
