On June 6, 2025, Marc Zitomer presented at the Strauss Esmay Associates’- 37th Annual Education Policy & School Law Seminar for the session entitled discuss, “Take Aways from New Jersey’s Expanded Sick leave Law”. This presentation explored the parameters of the law, the rights of management to verify sick leave, circumstances when school districts may require advance notice of sick leave, the law’s impact on sick leave banks, whether administration still retains the ability to deal with excessive absenteeism, the law’s impact on negotiations and a review of new PERC and arbitration case law interpreting the law.
