Schenck Price partners Deborah A. Cmielewski and Joseph Maddaloni, Jr., spoke at the LeadingAge New Jersey & Delaware 2023 Annual Meeting + EXPO. They presented “Legal Update: Cannabis and the New Jersey & Delaware Senior Care Industry.” With developments in cannabis law, providers in the senior care industry are faced with an important decision to make: to allow or not to allow cannabis usage. Deborah and Joseph discussed the current status of Federal, New Jersey and Delaware law regarding medical and recreational cannabis and offered insights on the potential implications of allowing (or disallowing) cannabis use in the senior living space. The presentation addressed policies and procedures; marijuana testing; training; and other human resource issues involving the use of cannabis by the workforce.
