  • Environmental Law Associate

    Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP is seeking an Environmental Law Associate to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate will have experience or a demonstrated interest in environmental law and regulatory matters and will be comfortable working with clients on a broad range of environmental compliance, transactional, and litigation matters. 

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    ·         Advise clients regarding federal and state environmental laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
    ·         Assist with matters involving environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, enforcement actions, and remediation.
    ·         Research and analyze environmental statutes, regulations, administrative decisions, and case law.
    ·         Draft legal memoranda, correspondence, pleadings, motions, agreements, and other legal documents.
    ·         Represent and assist clients in matters involving environmental regulatory agencies and governmental authorities.
    ·         Support environmental due diligence in connection with real estate, corporate, and other business transactions.
    ·         Assist with environmental litigation, administrative proceedings, and regulatory enforcement matters.
    ·         Work collaboratively with attorneys across the firm's practice areas on matters involving environmental considerations.
    ·         Communicate directly with clients, consultants, experts, governmental agencies, and opposing counsel as appropriate.
    ·         Monitor developments in federal and New Jersey environmental laws and regulations.
     
    Qualifications:
    ·         Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
    ·         Admission to the New Jersey Bar in good standing. Admission to the New York Bar is a plus.
    ·         Approximately 2-5 years of relevant legal experience is preferred; candidates with comparable regulatory, litigation, or environmental experience will also be considered.
    ·         Experience with or knowledge of federal and New Jersey environmental laws and regulatory programs is preferred.
    ·         Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
    ·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    ·         Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively.
    ·         Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, staff, clients, and outside professionals.
    ·         Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement, and commitment to providing high-quality client service.
    ·         Exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
     

    Preferred Experience:

    Experience involving one or more of the following is a plus: environmental permitting and compliance; site remediation and contaminated properties; environmental due diligence; regulatory enforcement; environmental litigation; land use and development matters involving environmental issues; or interaction with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and other environmental regulatory agencies.

      Mid-Level Healthcare Attorney

    This position requires a minimum of 3-7 years’ experience in healthcare law, with a proven track record in handling a wide range of industry-specific legal matters.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide counsel on fraud and abuse, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

    • Serve as lead attorney on health care mergers and acquisitions, including drafting and negotiation of transaction documents.

    • Manage reimbursement matters, including billing audit and reimbursement dispute work.

    • Examine and negotiate managed care contracts.

    • Address medical staff issues, providing guidance and support, as needed.

    • Navigate state and federal regulatory matters for healthcare providers, including professional licensing board matters and compliance investigations.

    Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

    • A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in healthcare law.

    • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and laws.

    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

    • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and calm.

    Litigation Associate – Professional Liability and Complex Commercial
    Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP is seeking an associate for our Litigation Department with 5 - 7 years’ experience in professional liability or complex commercial cases.
    Responsibilities include:
    • Manage a diverse caseload of professional liability and complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
    • Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions
    • Conduct and defend depositions, including expert depositions
    • Prepare pleadings, discovery, and trial materials
    • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances
    • Collaborate closely with partners and clients to develop litigation strategy
    • Provide clear, timely client communication and case analysis
    • Mentor junior attorneys and support team development, as appropriate
    Qualifications:
    • 5–7 years of relevant litigation experience, with demonstrated exposure to professional liability and/or complex commercial matters
    • Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills
    • Significant experience in all aspects of trial advocacy (including depositions, motions, and orders to show cause)
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and case-management abilities
    • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
    • Must be admitted to practice and in good standing with the New Jersey Bar
    Preferred (but not required):
    • First-chair deposition or courtroom experience
    • Experience handling matters in state and federal court
    • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms
    • Portable business or business development interest is a plus

    Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP is seeking an associate with 2-7 years’ experience in defending medical malpractice claims for our Litigation Practice Group.

    Responsibilities:

    • Draft pleadings, conduct discovery, draft motions, briefs, etc.
    • Represent clients in court and at mediation
    • Develop and execute legal strategies
    • Conduct thorough factual and legal research and analysis
    • Manage matters from commencement to final resolution
