Affordable Care Act

The Senate has followed the House of Representatives in passing the Pace Act. The purpose of the act is to stop a change in the definition of “small employer” which would have increased the size of businesses falling into this category. The “small business” designation presently is limited to 50 employees or fewer. Under the Affordable Care Act, the limit would have risen to 100 employees at the start of 2016.

The ACA requires the “small employer” to provide certain benefits that larger employers need not provide. The bill’s sponsors believe the Pace Act will save both employers and employees from having to pay significantly increased premiums. Any questions about the Pace Act may be directed to John M.
