Robert F. McAnanly, Jr. is Counsel in the Firm’s Banking and Finance Practice Group. Bob has been with the Firm for more than six years. During that time, he has focused primarily on representing lenders in connection with SBA and other government guaranteed loans. In his current practice, Bob draws upon his several decades of experience in a broad range of real estate and banking matters.
Bob joined the Firm in 2020, weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic . Bob and his colleagues in the SBA lending department quickly analyzed the Paycheck Protection Program (“PPP”) and other emergency legislation. The department worked tirelessly to provide our clients with critical advice and counsel regarding that novel and extremely important legislation.
Bob used his PPP expertise to obtain significant wins for several borrowers of large PPP loans. Working with the Firm’s Nonprofit Practice Group, Bob was able to secure forgiveness of almost $17 million in PPP loans for three nonprofit PPP borrowers.
Recently, Bob has expanded his practice into the commercial loan sphere, by representing several real estate developers, physician groups and senior living facilities in obtaining commercial loans. His understanding of the lender “side” has been invaluable in helping Bob efficiently and expertly represent commercial borrowers in many different types of loan transactions.
Bob continues to apply the knowledge and expertise he has acquired in areas such as ground leasing, space leasing, land use and real estate sales and acquisitions. He also remains current on SBA lending developments by attending and speaking at annual conferences of the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (“NAGGL”) and the America East Conference.
