Labor & Employment Law

As a full-service firm, Schenck, Price, Smith & King has a large number of corporate clients who face a wide variety of labor, employment, and personnel-related issues. The firm has attorneys with special expertise who regularly advise clients on these issues.

When ever possible, we try to resolve questions on the telephone, to provide prompt answers to questions involving issues such as family and medical leave, employee discipline and discharge, unemployment, worker safety, and a myriad of related issues. We perform longer-term projects for employers, such as developing or critiquing employee handbooks and personnel policies, developing employee benefit or pension plans, and conducting wage and hour audits to assess where the employer has potential exposure (particularly as to exempt and non-exempt classifications). We also counsel employers on combating union organizing drives and in negotiating collective bargaining agreements. Further, we provide group and individual training to managers and employees on sexual and workplace harassment and on preventive employee relations activities for managers. In addition, we represent employers in defending against all manner of labor and employment law claims in state and federal courts.

In situations calling for prompt service and quick answers, we pride ourselves in quick turnaround time and returning phone calls as soon as possible. With more long-range projects, we keep the client fully informed along the way to ensure the client knows where we are.
