To many attorneys, a case ends after it has been tried and the post-trial motions have been decided. However, in today’s world of never-ending litigation, a trial is often just the first stage of extended process.

Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP has an active and highly successful appellate practice in which our seasoned appellate practitioners guide and handle appeals in both the state and federal legal systems on a regular basis. Over the past 25 years, the appellate attorneys in the firm have handled hundreds of appeals involving a variety of issues such as personal injury, fire and casualty losses, products liability law, insurance coverage disputes, administrative law, contracts, banking law, health care law, trust and estate controversies, land use applications, property taxation, environmental and matrimonial matters.

Much of the appellate work has been referred to our veteran appellate attorneys by other lawyers and law firms seeking experienced practitioners to prepare their case for appeal including reviewing the record in detail to determine grounds for appeal, conducting the proper research, writing persuasive and compelling briefs, engaging in appellate motion practice and preparing and presenting oral argument.

Our appellate practitioners have regularly appeared in the Appellate Division and Supreme Court of New Jersey, Third Circuit Court of Appeals and other appellate tribunals. We have gained a depth of insight about the workings of the appellate process that is not readily available to a trial lawyer who handles an occasional appeal.
