Sidney A. Sayovitz
Sidney A. Sayovitz is Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP’s Managing Partner. With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Sayovitz is an integral part of the firm’s Business Law Department, specializing in public utilities, business and education. Mr. Sayovitz’s practice focuses on telecommunications, commercial transactions, corporate governance, state and federal regulatory matters, and education law. Through these practice areas, Mr. Sayovitz provides corporate legal services to a diverse clientele ranging from Fortune 100 corporations to large school districts.
With a strong knowledge of communication and commerce, Mr. Sayovitz has been involved in complex commercial transactions, financings, joint ventures, SEC matters, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Sayovitz has represented both public and private companies in regulatory proceedings in federal and state courts and appears regularly before the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the Office of Administrative Law.
Mr. Sayovitz first joined Schenck, Price Smith & King, LLP in 1996, left briefly in 2000 to serve as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Lexent, a publically traded telecommunications company, and returned to the firm in January 2002. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sayovitz was a partner at Young Diomiero & Sayovitz specializing in Public Utilities, Business and Education.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the City College of New York in 1970, Mr. Sayovitz graduated in 1973 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law with honors in civil procedure. From there, Mr. Sayovitz served as the President of the New Jersey Association of School Attorneys from 1978 until 2000, and the President and Chairman of Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy from 2003-2007. Mr. Sayovitz has also given lectures at the New Jersey State Bar Association and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
Mr. Sayovitz was recognized in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of New Jersey’s “Super Lawyers”. * in Public Utilities.
