Sidney A. Sayovitz
Sidney A. Sayovitz is a partner with Schenck, Price, Smith & King’s Business Law Department and serves as the chairman of the Department. His practice focuses primarily in the areas of telecommunications, commercial transactions, corporate governance, state and federal regulatory matters, and education law. As Chairman of the Business and Real Estate Department, Mr. Sayovitz oversees a department which provides corporate legal services to a diverse group of clients from large public corporations to small businesses. The services are diverse in nature from simple business formation to complex business transactions. As chair of the firm’s Corporate Governance group, Mr. Sayovitz also advises clients regarding issues of public integrity and governance.
Mr. Sayovitz has represented telecommunications companies and cable television operators for more than twenty years. In representing these companies, Mr. Sayovitz has been involved in complex commercial transactions, financings, joint ventures, SEC matters, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Sayovitz has represented both public and private companies in regulatory proceedings in federal and state courts and appears regularly before the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the Office of Administrative Law. He also advises clients on emerging competitive changes in the regulatory landscape, local franchising matters and a broad range of business issues.
Mr. Sayovitz first joined Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP in 1996, departed in 2000 to serve as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Lexent, a publicly traded telecommunications company, and returned to the firm in January 2002. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Sayovitz was President of the New Jersey Association of School Attorneys and also served as President of Marathon Broadcasting Corporation, a radio station operator.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the City College of New York in 1970, Mr. Sayovitz received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in 1973.
Mr. Sayovitz was recognized in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of New Jersey’s “Super Lawyers” in Public Utilities.
