Monica E. Peck

Monica E. Peck is a partner with Schenck, Price, Smith & King’s Business Law Department. Ms. Peck chairs the firm’s School Law, Labor and Employment Practice Group and is a member of the Health Care Practice Group. For more than thirty years, Ms. Peck has provided legal counsel to small businesses, to private institutional and business clients, as well as to large and small public entities. Ms. Peck has devoted much of her career to the representation of clients before administrative agencies. Having represented the FDIC and the RTC, cable television and casino industry clients, large healthcare institutions, and other publicly-regulated industries, Ms. Peck appears regularly before various State agencies, the Office of Administrative Law, and State and federal courts.

Ms. Peck counsels her business clients regarding all operational issues including governance, personnel, contracting, licensing, and compliance. She has particular expertise in representing educational institutions including local public school districts and State colleges.

A regular lecturer throughout New Jersey, Ms. Peck has presented on a variety of legal issues. She has given presentations on a diverse range of legal issues including “Conducting Workplace Misconduct Investigations,” “Sexual Harassment,” “Ethics Issues,” and “Obligations under the Open Public Records Act.” Ms Peck has been active in several State legal associations including the New Jersey Association of School Law Attorneys and the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Ms. Peck attended the University of Bridgeport, graduated Magna cum laude from Montclair State University and is a 1979 honors graduate of the Seton Hall University School of Law. While at Seton Hall, she served as an Associate Editor of the Seton Hall Law Review and was the recipient of multiple academic honors. After graduation, she served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Robert Tarleton, assigned to the Superior Court of New Jersey, Trial Division. Ms. Peck trained for and served as a mediator for the Essex County Alternative Dispute Resolution Program. For many years, she has been recognized by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of New Jersey's “Super Lawyers” * in the practice area of Schools and Education.
