Charles D. LaFiura

Charles D. LaFiura is counsel with Schenck, Price, Smith & King’s Business Law Department. He counsels clients primarily in the areas of banking law and general corporate, commercial and real estate transactions.

Mr. LaFiura has broad corporate, regulatory and transactional experience in the financial services industry, principally in the areas of commercial banking, corporate and transactional matters for publicly and closely held business entities, and in commercial real estate acquisitions and leasing. He has, for example, closed or supervised the closing of complex lending, letter of credit, and tax exempt bond financing transactions for major New Jersey financial institutions; acted as lead attorney for bank collection matters and loan restructurings; served as lead attorney for a major New Jersey bank in its bulk sale of "other real estate owned" and defaulted mortgage loans; advised the managements of publicly and closely held financial and non-financial institutions on matters involving stockholder relations, securities law compliance, regulatory compliance, change-in-control contracts, anti-takeover measures, leveraged management buy-outs, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; and represented real estate developers.

Mr. LaFiura received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1965 and his law degree from New York University School of Law in 1968. Prior to joining Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP in 1997, Mr. LaFiura was a partner with the Paterson firm of Evans Hand.
