Stephen A. Geffner

Stephen A. Geffner is a partner with Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP and a member of the firm’s Business and Real Estate and Litigation Departments. Mr. Geffner is an expert in land use issues. He has represented real estate developers, both commercial and individual, in obtaining real estate subdivisions and with regard to other land use issues. With his assistance, Mr. Geffner’s clients have obtained approvals for cell towers, child care facilities, retail centers and major residential communities. Of particular note is Mr. Geffner’s involvement with the approval of the Livingston Town Center, which received both regional and national attention. Mr. Geffner has also represented and continues to represent many houses of worship in expanding or obtaining new facilities. In addition to being admitted to the New Jersey and New York Bars, Mr. Geffner is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

A dedicated volunteer, Mr. Geffner has served in many charitable capacities. He was the chairman of the West Essex Fresh Air Fund for the United Way for thirteen years and a member of the Governor’s Council on Drug Abuse. Recently, along with his wife Myra, Mr. Geffner received the Israel Bond Freedom Award. He is also the recipient of the Brandeis Society Award for both legal and community achievement.

Mr. Geffner’s dedication to his community extends to his leadership positions in the Township of Livingston, where he served as Mayor, Councilman, and counsel to the Board of Adjustment.

A 1960 graduate of Ohio University (B.A.), Mr. Geffner received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1963. He served as the sole judicial clerk for the four presiding judges in the Essex County District Court immediately following law school. Prior to joining Schenck, Price, Mr. Geffner was a founder and senior partner of Gallo Geffner Fenster, P.C.
