Stephen B. Fenster
Stephen B. Fenster is a partner in the Litigation Department of Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Fenster was a founder and partner at Gallo Geffner Fenster, P.C., and chair of its litigation department. Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney, Mr. Fenster’s 40-years of experience as a trial attorney are diverse and extensive, and include the areas of insurance coverage, product liability, and commercial, probate, employment and construction litigation. Mr. Fenster’s clients include insurance companies, third party administrators, corporations and individuals, such as Merchants Insurance Group, New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company and Liberty Mutual Insurance Companies. He has served as a court-appointed Arbitrator and continues to serve as a member of the American Arbitration Association panel of commercial arbitrators.
As a member of the American, New Jersey, and Bergen and Hudson County bar associations, Mr. Fenster has served on various committees and is a past president of the Attorneys Association of Bergen County (predecessor to the Bergen County Bar Association). He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, the New Jersey Defense Association, American Association of Trial Lawyers and Trial Attorneys of New Jersey. Mr. Fenster teaches and mentors young attorneys as a Master of the Morris Pashman American Inn of Court. His teaching is not limited to young lawyers – Mr. Fenster lectures attorneys, risk managers, and insurance company personnel on both the national and local level regarding insurance coverage issues. He is the author of “Computer and EDP Claims: Risk Management, Coverage and Potential Liabilities.” Mr. Fenster has also served as a multi-term President of the Board of Trustees of Family Services of Bergen County and on the Board of Trustees of the Devonshire School.
After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, Mr. Fenster obtained his law degree from the Washington College of Law at the American University. While attending law school, Mr. Fenster served as an assistant historian for the United States Department of the Interior, focusing on the restoration of Ford’s theater. After law school, Mr. Fenster completed a clerkship at the United States Department of Justice in the Civil Division and for then United States Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.
Mr. Fenster was recognized in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of New Jersey’s “Super Lawyers”* in Insurance Coverage.
