James Eric Andrews

James Eric Andrews is counsel with Schenck, Price, Smith & King’s Business Law Department and a member of the firm’s school law practice group. Mr. Andrews’ practice is focused on administrative law. Mr. Andrews has special expertise in cable television franchising, public contracting, and Open Public Meetings Act and Open Public Records Act issues.

Mr. Andrews served in the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as a regulatory officer from 1987 to 1990. In 1990 he was appointed Deputy Attorney General and served in that position, in the New Jersey Department of Law & Public Safety, Division of Law, until joining Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP in 2000. As Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Andrews counseled the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection on a wide variety of issues in the fields of electric, gas, water, solid waste, telecommunications and cable television regulation, and represented those agencies in appeals before the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey and the Federal Communications Commission. He also provided legal advice to the Board of Public Utilities with respect to corporate mergers and acquisitions and other financial transactions of public utility and cable television companies.

Active in community and church affairs, Mr. Andrews is a long-time trustee of Summit Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and served for more than fifteen years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the McCutchen Friends Home, a Quaker retirement and nursing home. Mr. Andrews is currently Vice President of Friends Foundation for the Aging.

Mr. Andrews is a 1987 graduate of Seton Hall School of Law and a 1974 graduate of Syracuse University.
